The National Sports Forum's Sammy Awards Honor ASA Entertainment With A Bronze Medal
LOS ANGELES (February 12, 2009) - ASA Entertainment (ASA) proudly announces that the
National Sports Forum (NSF) recently honored the action sports event producer's Xbox 360
Anti-Gravity Tour as one of the top three marketing ideas of 2008.
Each year the National Sports Forum presents the SAMMY Award to the company that has
created the best Sales, Advertising, Marketing, Management idea of the Year. Out of
numerous nominees, ASA was chosen as one of six finalists honored at this year's forum in
Phoenix, Arizona on January 27th. ASA Entertainment's Xbox 360 Anti-Gravity Tour was
selected as the third best of the year.
"ASA is dedicated to delivering measurable results to its clients through innovative
action sports events, TV and content. By honoring us with a SAMMY Awards bronze medal,
the NSF has respectfully acknowledged these efforts," said ASA President Gabby Roe. "We
feel very privileged to receive this recognition. It not only rewards ASA for the hard
work and creative ideas of our staff, but it also showcases the worthy cause that the Xbox
360 Anti-Gravity Tour supported - the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids."
With the help of Xbox 360's marketing agency, Wunderman, the Xbox 360 Anti-Gravity Tour
went beyond traditional marketing methods and literally took the brand directly to its
target demographic. It visited high schools across the country with an action sports
exhibition that prominently delivered the Xbox message and created opportunities for
immediate hands-on interaction with their Xbox 360 gaming consoles. Capturing the youth's
attention where they live - in school - was an innovative way to zero in on their core
audience. This fresh marketing strategy helped additional Tour sponsors further their
brand initiatives as well.
"The Xbox 360 Anti-Gravity Tour proved to be a strong cause marketing initiative for us.
Having the athletes deliver an important anti-tobacco message directly to high school
students is something we support. ASA provided a great onsite experience that truly
resonated with the teenage male and female audiences in a unique social environment," said
Bobbie Washatka, Xbox Group Marketing Manager.
While the Tour gave Xbox 360 the opportunity to directly market to this demographic as its
title sponsor, the Tour's principal objective was to educate today's youth about the
dangers of smoking, prevent increased usage and discourage continued use. On the heels of
its successful 2008 Tour, ASA is proud to note that in 2009 the Tour will visit 85 schools
with this important cause message.
